Three Lakes Marina-Outfitters offers 3 types of hunting expeditions:

Hunting permits are available directly at the outfitters. Dont't forget, that for safety reasons, a fluorescent orange vest must be worn at all times.

Spring Bear:

The season starts in mid-May and lasts only 6 weeks to finish at the end of June. Pre-baited sites are located on private land and other reserved territories. Note that the numerous forest cuts and mild winters have greatly favoured wild fruit growing climates, which has helped to contribute to the increase of the black bear population.

The most popular weapon for black bear hunting is no doubt the bow and arrow however; black bears can also be hunted using a high powered rifle, black powder muzzle loaders, or crossbow. The hunting territories are well managed to produce large bears, since only a small number (20) of hunters are accepted each year.

Moose:

The moose hunting season starts at the beginning of September with bow hunting and lasts for 2 weeks. Note that this is the prime time of the season for the fall rut and you will no doubt see and hear moose calling.

For shoulder weapons such as high powered rifles, black powder muzzle loaders or crossbows, the season starts at the beginning of October and also lasts for 2 weeks.

Since the dates vary from year to year, please consult the SEASONS section before reserving your hunting expedition.

Note that the provincial moose management program for our hunting zone (zone 13), has alternating male/female hunting seasons. For the 2004 shoulder weapon (rifle) season, only males and calfs can be harvested and for the 2005 season all specimens (males, females and calfs) are permitted. There are no restrictions for harvesting moose specimens during the bow hunting season.

The hunting territories are strategically equiped with 6 moose hunting stands and salt licks. The numerous forest cuts and mild winters have greatly improved the growth of young willow, poplar, birch and maple trees, thus increasing the moose population.

The most popular weapon used for this hunt is the high powered rifle; however bow hunting is on the rise especially since the season is 3 weeeks earlier and during the peak of the fall rut. Black powder muzzle loaders and crossbows can also be used, but are not as common.

The suuccess rate for moose hunting is high since only a small number of hunters are accepted each year.

Small Game:

The cool autumn nights and fall colors certainly announce that small game hunting season has arrived. You will be pleasantly surprised at the large quantities of ruffed grouse (partridge) and Snow Shoe Hare (rabbit) that can be harvested on our numerous trails throughout the forest.
